Petroperú did not go bankrupt thanks to the injection of S/ 4,000 million from the Government, according to Kurt Burneo

The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Kurt Burneo, pointed out this Thursday 24 that the capitalization of S/ 4,000 million, allocated by the Executive to Petroperú, prevented the bankruptcy of the state company.

“If the capitalization was not approved, it would have meant that the company could not take on debt and would not have been able to pay the suppliers,” he clarified in dialogue with the press.

Burneo Farfán added that the capital injection was approved in line with what was recommended by the investment banks and that is why Petroperú will be able to recover its line, credit and normal operation.

Now, the national oil company must submit monthly reports on its operations and financial situation, according to the official.

“Petroperú has very specific demands that previously did not exist. We are sure that we will find additional control measures, but the first thing that had to be done is to stabilize the company, ”he concluded.
