The fertilizer crisis, as well as the changes of ministers in this sector, has put into question jeopardize the harvest campaign for the following year. For this reason, from the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Irrigation of Piura they carried out the next crop planning based on the needs of the market and careful prices.
According to the regional director of Agriculture, Ilich López Orozco, in Piura, more than 270,000 hectares of various crops They have been scheduled to be installed in the 2022-2023 agricultural season.
He explained that among the crops with the largest area, the rice, yellow corn, starchy corn and wheat. Also noteworthy are the permanent and semi-permanent plantations of mango, lemon, sugar cane, organic banana, among others.
It should be noted that, due to the shortage of fertilizers, there was a price increase in the main basic necessities. They increased by up to 20%, as has been warned worldwide.
Therefore, the Peasant Community of Sechura has received 3,200 bags containing an average of 50 kilograms of fertilizer in each one, while, over the course of days, the mining company that operates in the area will deliver an additional 2,432, for which a total of more than 281 tons will be received of ammonium sulfate.
With this delivery, from 2010 to date, the mining company has delivered more than 3,727 tons of fertilizers to the Sechurana community to benefit small farmers who are reactivating and generating income for the family basket.
