Today is the third day of indefinite unemployment convened by various trade unions cargo carriers at the national level. Although yesterday the entry of potatoes fell by almost 48%, the retail supply centers of the capital are still being supplied normally.
Thus, the shortage of the main foods in the retail markets of Metropolitan Lima could register after the fifth day of the force measure, according to Edson Tinoco, general manager of the Tierra Prometida market of Santa Anita.
“It will depend a lot on how the strike intensifies, also how the other carrier unions unify and that only takes effect on the fifth day. On the fifth day we are going to see what could happen with the shortage of products,” he told LR+.
The leader also stressed that the arrival of products is the usual in the aforementioned market. “The average food that enters the Promised Land Market is 1,000 tons per day and in these three days that margin has been maintained without variety,” he said.
It should be noted that in this market the prices of the main foods are as follows:
- Tomato: S/1.50
- Lemon: S/ 2.00
- Carrot: S/ 1.50
- White potato: S/ 2.30
- Yellow potato: S/ 5.50
- Vanita: S/ 3.50
- Onion: S/ 1.50
- Lettuce:_ 3 x S/ 2.50.
