Contecon Guayaquil SA (CGSA) has completed 16 years of operations as the concessionaire of the Libertador Simón Bolívar seaport in Guayaquil, a period in which it recorded a historical record of 135 million tons of mobilized cargo and 13,807 ships served from the beginning of its operations to this date, which also consolidated this terminal as the country’s main seaport, according to Contecon.

The amount of cargo handled by the company represents 40% of the market share. By the end of 2023, it plans to mobilize more than 900,000 TEU, which represents an increase of more than 5%; compared to 2022.

The concessionaire pointed out that the record figure was achieved by accepting the ships Baltic Reefer and Maersk; and with the mobilization of freight from Reybanpac, Papelera Nacional and Ecuagreenprodex.
