After protesting against the Ministry of Production to be heard regarding the crisis they have been going through for years, the small-scale artisan leaders of Sechura and Paita (Piura) —dedicated to the extraction of anchovy for direct human consumption and preserves— await immediate attention to a series of problems in the fishing sector.
The leader Presentación Eche Pazo, president of the Sechura and Paita Association of Artisanal Anchoveta Fishing Shipowners, explained that his associates preserve this marine resource without any risk. “They are attacking our economy. Artisanal fishermen are going through a crisis. In addition, there is letter No. 25-2023 from the Directorate General for Supervision, Inspection and Sanction of Produce, which allows us to continue with the responsible fishing“, he narrowed.
