The Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contreras, described as a “populist measure” the bill of congressman José Luna, which proposes to authorize the withdrawal of up to S/19,800 (4UIT) of the funds of the Administrators of Pension Funds (AFP). According to the head of the MEF, this legislative initiative is “anti-technical” and could affect retirees, since it denatures pension savings in our country. Next, he knows what he said on this topic.
“It is an anti-technical measure. Our retirees, as you have seen, require a pension and we are making an effort to raise it because the majority of citizens cannot access it. Nowhere in the world is this measure proposed, which is anti-technical and that made sense during the pandemic, where you had to buy medicines and oxygen, but today the scenario is different. A measure of this type is nothing more than populism that will end up affecting our retirees.”he referred in statements to the press.
