Bonuses in Peru: which ones are in force and how do you know if you are one of the beneficiaries of these subsidies?

The rise in prices of basic basket products has been causing various problems for the finances of Peruvian families. In recent years, a series of events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, inflation, and the rains and landslides in 2023, have forced the Government to issue bonds to help the most vulnerable population in our country. Next, find out which of these State subsidies are in force and check if you are a beneficiary of any of them.

Fertiabono II

In order to reactivate the economy of small producers and guarantee the population’s food security, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) began in March of this year the distribution of Fertiabono II, an economic subsidy in favor of farmers , which can be collected until August 31 at Banco de la Nación agencies.

According to official MidagriI figures, this program benefited more than 139,000 producers with a disbursement of S/119 million for the 2022-2023 agricultural season. Along these lines, President Dina Boluarte announced the new stage of the Fertiabono II subsidy, which will have more than S/136 million to support 166,000 agricultural producers who cultivate plots of up to 10 hectares.

Bonus for victims of rains (BAE)

Through Ministerial Resolution No. 223-2023-Housing, the delivery of this economic aid was established in favor of families whose homes collapsed or were left uninhabitable due to disasters. This amount of S/500 allows affected people to rent a space to live for a maximum period of two years.

  • Amount: S/500, for a maximum term of two years
  • Requirements: that the home where the affected family resided be declared uninhabitable or destroyed and that the property to be rented be located in a safe area
  • How to access: local governments must send the registers of victims to the MVCS so that these records can be uploaded to the National Information System for Response and Rehabilitation (Sinpad) of the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci). In addition, families can approach the municipalities to request registration or with the brigades of the Ministry of Housing. Remember that the collection of this economic subsidy is made at the offices of Banco de la Nación.

Bonus for teachers

According to official information, from September it will be possible to collect this economic subsidy of S/220 that was possible after an agreement between the Ministry of Education and the Unitary Union of Education Workers of Peru (Sutep).

Basic education teachers and assistants, as well as teachers in schools managed by the Ministry of Defence, will be able to access this payment, which will be made together with the cancellation of their salaries. Similarly, there is an agreement between the Minedu and the MEF to grant an exceptional bonus of S/380 during the first quarter of 2024.

Voucher for tour guides

As stipulated in Emergency Decree No. 029-23, the Government authorized the delivery of an economic subsidy of S/800 in favor of tourist guides, tourism graduates who carry out guiding activities, mountain guides, walking guides and artisans nationwide who do activities independently.

This new bonus is valid until December 31 of this year, but there is no delivery date to date. Below, find out the requirements to access this subsidy:

  1. People who want to collect the S/800 bonusthey must have the current records as of December 31, 2022 before the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism or the one that acts as the regional government
  2. Interested parties must not be beneficiaries of other social programs and/or financial subsidies, nor be registered as a dependent worker in the Monthly Payment Schedule (call me).

Bonus for artisanal fishermen

According to the Minister of Production, Raúl Pérez, in statements to the media, a new bonus of S/700 will be delivered to fishermen as part of an emergency decree or in the framework of a supplementary credit. This economic aid would support 35,000 of them and its delivery would be much faster, since the beneficiaries have already been identified.

Electricity Bonus

The Electricity Bonus is the temporary granting of a monetary subsidy for electricity supply of S/10 per month to people in vulnerable situations between the months of March, April and May of this year. That is, up to S/30 will be delivered to users with average consumption of up to 100 kW/h during August and July of last year.

Users located in rural areas who access electrical service through solar panels registered in July of last year, and those who have active provisional supplies with a medium or low voltage meter will also benefit.

To guarantee the payment of this bonus, President Dina Boluarte announced in her message to the nation that the Government has authorized the transfer of 149 million soles to electricity distribution companies.
