Exchange rate: dollar closes down at S/3.7130 this Wednesday, August 23

The exchange rate of the dollar it closed lower this Wednesday, August 23, and was located around S/3.7130, according to the official marker of the Central Reserve Bank (BCRP).

In this way, the North American currency records a setback against the Peruvian sol of 110 points if compared to the previous day’s close, when it stood at S/3.7240.

“During the day, there was an offer from non-residents and local corporations, with the dollar reaching a minimum price of S/3.7030,” said Gianina Villavicencio, manager of Currency Brokerage at Renta4 SAB.

In the end, US$323 million was negotiated in the market at an average price of S/3.7103. In addition, there were maturities of foreign exchange swaps for sale for S/200 million, which were renewed to 6 months with an average rate of 5.54%.

Globally, the dollar loses positions after data showed that business activity in the United States approached the point of stagnation in August, the weakest growth since February.

The DXY, an index that measures the performance of the US dollar against a basket of foreign currencies, is currently trading at 103.34, a retracement of -0.13%.
