Stock market closes mixed due to pressure in the banking sector
According to César Romero, Head of Research at Renta4 SAB, on Tuesday, August 22, the performance of the stock markets was mixed, this is how the S&P 500 ended at -0.28%, while the Nasdaq Composite closed at +0.06 % coming to recover in the last minutes, despite the quarterly report on Wednesday from Nvidia, which has a performance of -2.77%.
On the other hand, Dow Jones closed down -0.51%. “We can see that given the rumors of the possible rise in interest rates, investors are reluctant to make large movements in the stock market so as not to put their investments at risk. Macy’s shares fell 14%, indicating a large pullback from consumers that is having an impact on retail companies,” Romero explained.
The 10-year treasury bonds closed at -0.32%, despite closing with a fall, it remains at its highest levels of the decade, due to the recent increases in interest rates with the purpose of reducing inflation . We are still waiting for the message that the president of the Federal Reserve (FED) will give next Friday.
