The impacts of COVID-19 on our economy affected the shopping center industry, which represents 3% of GDP and generates more than 150,000 formal jobs. Despite this situation, various companies will open new establishments this year and US$1.44 billion will be invested until 2025, according to the Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDP). What are the shopping centers that will open this 2023?
Until the end of 2022, 79 shopping centers were registered in our country, of which 33 are located in Lima and 46 in the provinces. According to information from the IEDP, for this year, six new shopping centers will open their doors to the public:
Aventura Mall in San Juan de Lurigancho
It is one of the most anticipated projects in Metropolitan Lima. It has an investment of US$88 million and is being built on the 9 block of Lurigancho avenue, close to Próceres de la Independencia avenue.
This commercial establishment will house more than 150 brands of footwear, restaurants, electrical appliances and entertainment. Although its opening was announced for August 2023, it will finally take place next November.

La Molina Portal
This shopping center is under the direction of the Cencosud conglomerate, which owns the Metro and Wong brands in our country. Its location will be at the intersection of Raúl Ferrero avenue and Alameda El Corregidor, La Molina district.
This project has a capital of US$100 million and will house more than 160 stores. Its inauguration is scheduled for October 23 of this year, according to the company Schmidt & Chávez-Tafur (SCHT), on its Facebook page.

Kings Square
The opening of Plaza de los Reyes is planned for the end of this year. Said shopping center is a gastronomic project that will be located at the intersection of the Cusco and Lampa shreds in downtown Lima and will require an investment of US$15 million.
This establishment will have three levels that will house a selection of national and international dishes and will have a food court with recognized brands.
Eco Plaza Shopping Center
This shopping center on Avenida La Molina (Ate) will be inaugurated in November this year and will have more than 300 stores that will house small entrepreneurs. Likewise, it will have a financial center, a gym and a gastronomic hall for the enjoyment of the public.

Eco Plaza Piura
The Eco Plaza Group will also open a shopping center in Piura in 2023 that will be located between Tallanes and Palmeras avenues in the San Eduardo urbanization in Piura. According to the company’s website, the new headquarters will have three levels in which products from various categories of fashion, fast food and the financial sector will be offered.
Iquitos Adventure Mall
The opening of the new Iquitos Mall is scheduled for next August 31 and its investment reached US$65 million. Said shopping center is located on the 10 block of Capitán José Abelardo Quiñones avenue, Iquitos city (Loreto) and will house more than 100 brands of stores specializing in fashion, gastronomy, vehicles, services and others.

What other malls will be built in 2023?
In the La Molina district, construction has already begun on the Parque La Molina shopping center, which will be inaugurated next year. This mall has an investment of US$60 million and will have more than five levels intended mainly for entertainment and shopping.
In addition, Cencosud will begin the construction of a new establishment in San Juan de Lurigancho that is part of its plan to expand new offices in our country. This venue will be located between Próceres de la Independencia avenues, Jardines Este and Los Tornillas and Las Maquinarias streets, and will have 345 stores, restaurants, a food court, cinemas and other attractions.
Finally, the launch of Eco Plaza Wilson, a commercial gamer establishment in Peru that will be located in Cercado de Lima and that will have more than 300 stores, warehouses to store merchandise and areas dedicated to eSports, is scheduled for next year.
