Pension 65: All beneficiaries will have their own debit card

All users of Pensión 65 of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) will soon have a debit card to charge at the correspondent agent closest to their home, according to the executive director of this social program, Julio Mendigure Fernández. He added that The payment modernization process is already underway for the benefit of 627,924 older adults.

“What we seek is to promote financial inclusion by bringing the adults and older adults of Pensión 65 closer to various products and services offered by financial institutions,” he said.

“With the mass delivery of these cards, they will be able to charge at 13,244 correspondent agents of the National bank, whether it is a business, a municipal agent or an agent within a financial institution. All this work will also contribute to the revitalization of the local economy”, explained Mendigure.

More than 40,000 cards will be delivered this year

User training began in July. This year more than 40,000 plastics will be delivered so that by the end of 2023 there will be 70,000 people charging with their debit cards. The other year the distribution will continue intensively until its use is universalized.

The official launch took place this Sunday, August 20, in four cities simultaneously: Ayacucho, Puno, Ucayali and Loreto, where 1,342 debit cards are being delivered.

In Ayacucho, Mendigure Fernández participated in a protocol event attended by local and regional authorities, as well as representatives of the National bank.

In this first phase, The delivery of debit cards has been prioritized to users between the ages of 65 and 75 who live in areas that are difficult to access, charge at bank agencies and meet other criteria. Immediately, at the beginning of the next year, the process will continue until it reaches the universe of adults and older adults of Pensión 65.
