Through the National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel), the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) achieved the execution of investments for S/276 million, between the months of January and July 2023. This initiative has had a considerable impact by speeding up the expansion of the fiber optic network nationwide, with the purpose of providing broader access to the internet and digital development opportunities for the Peruvian population.
Important advances occurred in the regions of Junín, with an execution of S/ 19.8 million; Ancash with S/ 3.7 million; Pasco with S/ 10.1 million; and telecommunications concessions with S/ 4.6 million.
Likewise, for July, Pronatel executed 103% of what was programmed, mainly for broadband projects in 18 regions nationwide, the 911 Project and the National Fiber Optic Dorsal Network.
MTC requested blocking of Didi Moto and Picap
The MTC, through its official social networks, requested the suspension of the Didi Moto and Picap applications after it was announced that they would be starting the registration of drivers to offer the motorcycle taxi service, despite being prohibited by current Peruvian regulations. . In addition, the entity has requested the internet operating companies to block both.
“Didi Moto and Picap do not go, the motorcycle taxi does not go! We have required that Internet operators block these applications within a day. Everyone’s security is not a game! The MTC will not allow No company mocks Peruvian laws and threatens our security and integrity. In this effort, the laws are complied with!” said the head of the MTC, Paola Lazarte.
It should be noted that the taxi platform by DiDi application announced, on August 18, through a statement the deactivation of its DiDi Moto service in Lima in response to the determination of the MTC.
