LPG shortage in Arequipa: how much does it cost after it ran out in 50% of taps?

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Arequipa it went up again after registering a shortage at the national level. The repercussion in the city and the pockets of drivers began to be felt on Thursday, August 17. That originated a variation in the rate in the scarcity scenario.

How much does LPG cost in Arequipa?

Before this scenario in Arequipa, prices were bordering on the lowest in recent months. At the Chaskigas stations, the gallon was sold at S/5.85 until Wednesday, however, for this Friday, it increased by one sol, that is, now it costs S/6.85.

In other taps, the price of LPG also varied. For example, at the Repsol tap, on Progreso avenue (Miraflores), fuel is offered at S/7.29, with an increase of S/0.30 compared to the last few days, meanwhile, at Primax stations, It is sold at S/8.19, with an increase of S/0.84.

Magno Salas, a tap business, estimates that only 50% of these establishments in Arequipa now sell LPG. Some stations already have queues of cars —above all, taxis— although still not reaching lines of more than five blocks, as happened in past months.

For his part, Alexander Cornejo, representative of the Federation of Taxi Drivers in ArequipaIn this regard, he argued that in Arequipa prices have increased on average one sol and something more. Likewise, he regretted that users have to form long queues to get fuel and the price increase.
