New Central Highway: MTC approves road file that will connect Lima with the Central Amazon region

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (TCM) reported that, through the Special Project for National Transport Infrastructure National Províashas given the green light to the final file for the review of the profile of the new Central Highway Daniel Alcides Carriondeveloped in collaboration with the project management office, PMO Tracks.

This new route, known as green corridor, has been the subject of improvements by Provías Nacional in collaboration with PMO Vías, in the course of technical evaluations that aim to minimize the property impact. He TCM ensures that expropriations will not be carried out in urban areas such as schools, parks or markets.

According to said ministry, with this approval, the first phase of the megaproject is completed. The next step will consist of initiating the final engineering study (EDI), which will allow the final layout of the road infrastructure to be finalized.. This process seeks to mitigate the risks of the work and optimize each structure, in order to establish the first mountain highway in the country in compliance with the highest international standards.

Additionally, archaeological studies will be carried out and environmental and social evaluations will continue, in order to obtain the environmental certification that will integrate the engineering innovations of recent years.

The green corridor will connect Metropolitan Lima with the Central Amazon Pacific macro region, which is made up of six regions: Huánuco, Pasco, Junín, Ucayali, Huancavelica and Lima.. The highway, with an extension of approximately 185 kilometers, will have four high-speed lanes, 30 kilometers of tunnels, 19 kilometers of viaducts, rest areas and services, 8 accesses and exits, as well as retaining walls, characteristics of a highway first class that provides comfort and safety to users.
