According to the Mobile Internet Monitoring Panel of the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel), the average download speed in the Mobile Internet service in Peru reached 11.42 Mbps in July, specifically for 4G networks.
Despite this, the virtual tool ‘Check your Mobile Internet’ showed a slight reduction in average speed compared to June (11.54 Mbps), due to the lower performance of the four main mobile operators.
In detail, Bitel and Claro experienced the greatest setbacks, with 0.19 Mbps and 0.15 Mbps, while Movistar and Entel they had smaller decreases, of 0.07 Mbps and 0.05 Mbps, respectively.
It is worth mentioning that Claro led the average download speed in 4G networks nationwide, with 12.85 Mbps; followed by Entel (11.92 Mbps); Movistar (10.11 Mbps) and Bitel (8.89 Mbps).
Which regions had the fastest internet?
In the analysis by region, it was found that eight areas exceeded the national average in performance, while only three showed an increase in average speed on 4G mobile networks compared to the previous month.
Tumbes remained the region with the best download speed performance, registering 12.40 Mbps, followed by Moquegua (11.98 Mbps), Ica (11.95 Mbps), Lima (11.87 Mbps) and Callao (11.77 Mbps). At the other extreme, Loreto (9.84 Mbps), Huancavelica (10.57 Mbps), San Martín (10.62 Mbps), Ayacucho (10.62 Mbps) and Ucayali (10.72 Mbps) had the lowest speeds. .
Increased data packet loss performance to 1.14%
The data packet loss rate, which can cause interruptions in data sessions and delays in transmissions, it reached a national average of 1.14%, an increase of 0.02 percentage points compared to June (1.12%).
As in the previous month, Claro was the operator with the best performance (0.92%), followed by Entel (0.95%), Movistar (1.28%) and Bitel (1.70%).
In regions, Callao (0.82%), Tumbes (0.82%), Lima (0.85%), Ica (0.89%), and Moquegua (0.89%) had lower rates of packet loss of data, while Loreto (4.07%), Cajamarca (1.74%), Huancavelica (1.71%), Amazonas (1.68%) and Ayacucho (1.67%) had higher rates.
