The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) puts into circulation, from Thursday, August 17, 2023, a silver coin that commemorates the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and Japan (1873 – 2023).
On the obverse of the coin is the Coat of Arms, the text Banco Central de Reserva del Perú, the year of minting and the denomination in letters one sol.
While, on the reverse, an image composed of emblematic mountains of both countries is shown: Machu Picchu and Mount Fuji, accompanied by linear elements that evoke, in the upper part, the rising sun and, in the lower part, the Peruvian flag.
Likewise, the legend “Diplomatic relations” and 150th anniversary (this word in Japanese characters), “PERU – JAPAN” and the years 1873 – 2023 are observed. This coin is legal tender and can be purchased on the Bank’s Sales Portal : https://tiendavirtual.bcrp.gob.pe/tiendabcrp/ at a starting price of S/147.
