The Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the Provincial Municipality of Puno. With this, the beginning of preliminary studies for the creation of a cable car in the city is marked. This project, entitled ‘Creation of public tourist services through tourist resources accessible by cable car and cultural spaces for recreation in Puno’, seeks to promote local development by promoting both internal and external tourism, in addition to offering a sustainable public transport alternative.
Likewise, on July 12, 2023, the Provincial Municipality of Puno declared the execution of this important project of public necessity and interest. In this way, it requested support for the development of preliminary studies of the aforementioned initiative within the framework of the investment promotion modality through public-private associations (PPP).
Javier Ponce, mayor of the Provincial Municipality of Puno, highlighted that the project of cable car will boost tourism and contribute to the growth of Puno’s economy. “I will support everything that is necessary to move this project forward. Thanks to PROINVERSIÓN for giving support to the Provincial Municipality of Puno in developing the transport infrastructure that the city requires”, commented the burgomaster.
Initiatives in Chiclayo
On the other hand, ProInvestment has signed two technical collaboration agreements with the Provincial Municipality of Chiclayo (Lambayeque). One will be intended to provide training and technical advice in the promotion of public-private associations (PPPs) and projects in assets, while the second focuses on the preparation of the Multiannual Report on Investments in Public-Private Partnerships and Projects in Assets (IMIAPP). , in line with Legislative Decree No. 1362 and its regulations.
As a result of this inter-institutional collaboration, the Provincial Municipality of Chiclayo hopes to include in its IMIAPP, among others, the projects of the Chiclayo terrapuerto (land terminal) and parking areas to be executed through active projects, and also a solid waste project through APP.
“There are three projects that we have prioritized and that we started working on with the approval of the Chiclayo provincial council,” said Janet Isabel Cubas, mayor of the Chiclayo province.
