Sources from the transport sector informed The Republic that the Didi application continues with the implementation of the motorcycle taxi service, despite the prohibition of Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). Recently, the company enabled the option for motorists to register, as seen in the promotion of the slogan “Complete your registration in Didi Moto! Generate up to S/2,100 in the first week.”
In addition, in their advertising, they ensured earnings of up to S/300 per week for drivers of the “Didi Moto” modality.
However, according to the Supreme Decree 035-2019-MTCfor four years it is illegal to provide taxi services on a motorcycle or linear motorcycle, since they represent a risk for users, generate citizen insecurity and can cause recurring traffic accidents. In this sense, the blocking of applications or web pages that offer this method of transport was ordered.
It is important to mention that this medium has also been informed that the application Picap, which provided people transport services in linear units and which was withdrawn from the Peruvian market in 2019, would operate again with the same activity in Peruvian territory. On the other hand, it has been reported that Indrive has begun its trial period for the motorcycle taxi service.

He National Transport Administration Regulation (RNAT) indicates that the special taxi transport service must be provided exclusively, in accordance with the National Vehicle Regulations, andn M1 category cars, which have three or five doors and side windows behind the driver. It is relevant to emphasize that, in exceptional cases, the Law on Special Public Transport of Passengers in Small Vehicles does consider suitable those three-wheeled units (such as motorcycle taxis), motorized and non-motorized, that have the established security instruments.
