New Central Highway: MTC assures that the final file is in its last stage

He Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) assured that the evaluation of the final file of the revision of the profile of the New Central Highway “Daniel Alcides Carrión”, presented by PMO Vías, is in the last stage of its process.

However, it should be noted that this evaluation already has a significant delay, after Minister Paola Lazarte herself assured that, in May, the cost and schedule of works on the Central Highway would be determined. Then, the deadline for the first half of August passed.

The institution remarked that in the coming days the conclusions will be made based on technical criteria and in favor of the public. MTC asked not to be guided by messages that could cause the discomfort of the population.

Precisely, a group of residents of Santa Clara, in Ate, held a sit-in this morning in rejection of the mega-project, arguing that it will affect some 4,000 families with a route that passes over homes, schools, markets and parks.

The New Central Highway will be a 185-kilometer road that will connect the regions of Junín, Pasco, Huancavelica, Huánuco and Pucallpa with Lima. It is expected to promote development opportunities for the central Amazonian macro-region.

“It will have a modern structure design, never seen in our country and that will make it safe for road users, not to mention that it will shorten travel times,” the institution said.
