BanEcuador and Mastercard have launched a new debit card for their users, who are mainly part of the population in rural, marginal urban sectors, small entrepreneurs, farmers, among others.

The event was held in the hall of the Ministry of Education in Quito, where the main authorities of both entities were present: Mauricio Salem, president of the Board of Directors of BanEcuador and Camilo Mier, manager of Mastercard.

According to Salem, “this is a historic day for the Government and BanEcuador, to be able to strengthen collaborative ties with one of the most prestigious financial services franchises in the world, such as Mastercard.”

Salem commented that this initiative offers new and modern banking services to a traditionally excluded segment of the population. He explained that in this way it will no longer be necessary to go to the bank to get cash and that clients will be able to access 5 million ATMs in the world and 39 million branches in the world.

The director of the bank emphasized the inclusive policy of BanEcuador and reminded that in this Government the financial entity made placements in the amount of 1.071 million USD, in more than 260,000 operations. And of this amount, 65% went to women from Ecuador.

With this new product, users of public banks will be able to make their physical and electronic purchases in thousands of facilities inside and outside the country, without the need for cash. In addition, it will have multiple advantages such as:

According to the bank, financial inclusion policies are necessary for designing and building a financial system aimed at productive development and structural changes, which is why this card is intended for the population in rural, marginal urban areas, small entrepreneurs, farmers and customers in general.

The bank reported that clients can get this service by visiting their branches. He also reminded that access to high-quality financial services, quick and agile, is an obligation that Javna banka has acquired with the population.

As part of the event, Juan Alfredo Gonzaga, the bank’s head of services and channels, presented Salem with a plaque and thanked the employee for his commitment to its management and transformative vision.
