Portability of postpaid mobile lines reached its historical peak in July, according to Osiptel

The portability of mobile lines of postpaid origin reached an all-time high in July 2023 after 351,546 mobile lines in this segment nationwide changed operator, an increase of 6.34%, compared to what was registered in June of this year. This was reported by the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel).

The result also explains the 5.21% growth in the total number of ported lines in the seventh month of the year, compared to June, reaching a total of 494,948 mobile lines that completed the portability process. This is the highest figure recorded in 16 months, according to the information published in the digital tool Punku, from Osiptel.

Meanwhile, ports in the prepaid segment reached 143,402 lines, which meant a growth of 2.55%, compared to the figures registered in the previous month (139,841), which represents 28.97% of the total portations registered in July; while 71.03% corresponded to the postpaid segment.

“Number portability is one of the most dynamic processes in the telecommunications sector, since it encourages competition between operating companies, which have to design strategies to keep their subscribers and attract new customers,” said the executive president of Osiptel, Rafael Muente Schwarz.
