Ukraine’s accession to NATO guarantees Russia’s security. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, RBC reports with reference to the Ukrainian media.

“Russia should be grateful if Ukraine is in NATO. Exactly. Because it is a security for Russia that Ukraine will never come to their territory in the future,” Zelensky said.

According to him, the countries of the alliance, including the Baltics, would welcome the decision to deploy Ukrainian troops on their territory to protect the borders with Russia after the end of hostilities.

Zelensky also stressed that other states that joined NATO did so out of fear of the return of the Soviet Union.

At the same time, earlier in Russia it was noted that Ukraine’s entry into NATO would create threats for Russia and at the same time would not increase the security of Kyiv. According to the President of the Russian Federation, the threat of Ukraine joining the alliance is one of the reasons for the special operation in this country.

Kyiv announced that Ukraine had filed an application to join NATO on September 30 last year. At the same time, the member states of the alliance agreed to simplify the entry procedure for Ukraine.
