After announcing that the Consumer Protection Commission No. 3 of the Indecopi ordered the recall of the Bimboletes marmoleado (Bimbo), Panettone with raisins and candied fruits (Bell’s) products from the market, for containing trans fats in an amount higher than the current regulations; and Cheese Tris (Frito Lay), the latter – belonging to the company Snacks América Latina SRL – will comply with the measure but will seek to remain in circulation.
In that sense, through a statement, Latin America SRL Snacks assured that Cheese Tris is made “under the strictest quality standards” and “high sanitary standards” required by the Peruvian labeling and production standard.
“We will abide by the decision in respect of the legal order, we will carry out complementary studies to give our consumers peace of mind that our product does not contain trans fats and we will appeal to confirm that we comply with local rules and regulations,” they argue.
Finally, the company emphasizes that according to its analysis and studies by independent laboratories certified by the competent authority, “Cheese Tris does not contain trans fats.”
