Flights from South Africa are prohibited until the end of the year

Until December 31 of this year, flights from South Africa are suspended to prevent the spread of the omicron variant in Peru, reported the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).

We encourage passengers to comply with these guidelines. We have to continue taking care of ourselves through the correct use of the mask, washing hands and maintaining social distance. In this way we also take care of others, ”said the minister of said portfolio, Juan Silva Villegas, after the publication of RM N ° 1257-2021-MTC / 01 yesterday in the extraordinary of El Peruano.

It is worth noting that the extension of the suspension – which dates from March of this year – occurred after coordination between the MTC and the health authorities due to the local and international situation in the face of this new variant of COVID-19.

Silva Villegas emphasized that within the guidelines to prevent coronavirus in the air transport of passengers and cargo, all travelers must use a double mask or a mask with high filtration capacity (N95, KN95, FFP2, KF94, etc.) and only the Children under two years of age are exempt from wearing masks.

In addition, passengers over 12 years of international flights entering the country must prove that 14 days before they already have the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Otherwise they can present a negative molecular test, the results of which have been issued up to 72 hours before shipment.
