Industrial activity in the CAV accumulates an increase of 10.9% in the first ten months

Production has increased by 3.6% in October compared to the same month in 2020. Energy has increased by 22.2%, consumer goods by 8.4% and capital goods by 4.5%, while intermediate goods are down 2.9%.

The industrial production of the Basque Autonomous Community it was a 3,6 % superior to that observed in the same month of the year 2020, in homogeneous terms in the working calendar, and at the closing of the balance of first ten months of 2021 It has been a 10.9% increase in industrial activity since last year. Compared to September, Basque industrial production has grown by 1.9%, once seasonal effects have been corrected, according to data from the Basque Institute of Statistics, Eustat.

The evolution of the October index has been positive in all major industrial sectors compared to 2020, with the exception of intermediate goods, which registered a year-on-year decrease of 2.9%. Energy grew by 22.2%, consumer goods by 8.4% and capital goods by 4.5%.

Electricity, gas and steam (18.4%), machinery and equipment (8.5%) and wood, paper and graphic arts (2.9%) were the sectors with the highest year-on-year growth in October. On the contrary, the greatest decreases were produced in rubber and plastics (9.8%), electrical materials and equipment (8.4%) and food, beverage and tobacco industries (2.5%).

By province, the interannual evolution of the industrial production index in October was positive in Bizkaia (6.7%) and Gipuzkoa (4.9%), but negative in Álava (3.2% less). In the accumulated of the first ten months of 2021, Gipuzkoa is the territory with the highest growth compared to the same period of 2020 (13.5%), followed by Bizkaia (9.9%) and Álava (8.2%).
