Workers of national casts of the Ministry of Culture demand better working conditions

The workers of the Union of National Casts of the Ministry of Culture This morning they led a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Economy and Finance facilities to demand better working conditions.

“We belong to Regime 276. However, we do not have any of the benefits of this regime (…). Our protest is the cessation of the violation of the rights that correspond to us. We don’t demand raises, we don’t demand bonuses. We only demand that the law be complied with and that the value of the national casts of the Ministry of Culture be recognized.”said Ruben Jaramillo Arevalogeneral secretary of the aforementioned trade union, to La Pública.

At the demonstration, they gathered the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Choir and the National Ballet, demonstrating their commitment to the cause and their dedication to their artistic disciplines. “We are carrying out a thematic protest. We are showing our art, because it is not only about making noise, but it is also about showing the value of the occupational groups of the Ministry of Culture,” he stressed.

According to Jaramillo Arévalo, the labor rights of these workers have not been respected for more than 30 years. He pointed out that, historically, specialized artists have been exclusively dedicated to their art, without worrying about their rights, which was taken advantage of by previous efforts to violate them.

In the last two years, the representatives of the national casts have held meetings with the different ministers and officials of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. “It is only in this administration of Minister Leslie Urteaga that we are seeing good will on the part of the officials who are working,” she commented.

Finally, Rubén Jaramillo called on President Dina Boluarte to become aware of the importance of the national casts in the cultural representation of Peru and to put an end to the violation of their labor rights, as well as the recognition due to their artistic value and as state workers.
