The Port Terminal of Guayaquil (TPG) celebrated 17 years of operation since its inception in July 2006, during which time it focused on exporting products such as bananas, shrimp, wood and cacao trees, whose main destinations were China, Chile, India, Japan, Argentina and the United States, said its manager Luisenrique Navas. He also said that a large number of plastic products, vehicle parts, paper, books, food and products for its preparation, construction materials, paints and finishes were imported.

After 17 years of operation, the terminal is a balance of investments and cargo mobilized during that period. According to its figures, since the beginning of its operations, TPG has mobilized about 4.5 million containers and invested more than 163 million dollars in the purchase of cranes, expansion of docks and support areas; logistic and procedural systems; infrastructure and technological equipment; the dredging of the mooring front, among other investments, was detailed by Navas.

“Connecting Ecuadorian trade with the world is crucial for us, which is why we are strengthening our port operations and optimizing our services. At TPG, we offer the best operational logistics to serve shipping line ships arriving in Ecuador,” said Navas.

In addition, he said that during the first fifteen days of next August, four hybrid HRTG gantry cranes of the third generation – environmentally friendly – will arrive, which will enable a reduction in fuel consumption.

The new cranes are equipped with intelligent safety systems used in major ports around the world. This equipment will be added to the seven X-ray cranes in the yard that the port terminal in Guayaquil already has.
