During the National Holidays, users seek to take advantage of the offers that commercial establishments advertise, mainly online. For this reason, Indecopi warns that it is important to find out before buying and to choose formal suppliers to avoid inconveniences.
The entity stated that from January 2019 to May 2023, it handled 122,758 claims associated, mainly, with the lack of suitability in this sectorthat is, that the consumer does not receive what he expects and that this translates into behaviors such as non-delivery of the product, non-compliance with refunds and late delivery.
To avoid inconveniences, you must review the information about the offer or promotion, such as the description of the product, guarantees, among others; and read the applicable conditions and restrictions carefully.
Besides, do not enter sensitive information, such as personal datacard numbers, or others, on platforms that have not been designed to make a purchase or transaction.
Before paying for something, verify that the chosen product or service, as well as the price initially offered, is the same as the one you selected on the website. Remember that companies cannot charge the cost of products and/or services that you have not chosen.
How to claim if I have a problem with a purchase made online?
If the product you bought did not arrive or was not delivered in the conditions you expected, you can enter the company’s virtual complaints book, which must be hosted on its website, and enter your complaint. The company must provide you with a solution within a maximum period of 15 non-extendable business days.
Indecopi recommends Keep all the evidence that proves what the company offered yousuch as proof of payment, deposit or transfer, advertising, WhatsApp conversations, proformas, among other documents.
