They present projects to build 63,000 social interest homes: in which regions will they be located?

With the objective of reducing the gap in the housing deficit in Peru, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) presented on Monday, July 17, a portfolio of 21 projects for the construction of 63,000 houses promoted by the State that will be executed in five regions through private management. In the following note, we will tell you more details about this announcement made by the minister of the sector, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, and in which parts of the country these housing projects will be located.

Social interest housing: what are these projects about?

During a meeting with real estate entrepreneurs, Minister Hania Pérez de Cuéllar assured that the projects to build low-income housing have the main objective of reducing the housing gap that reaches 1,850,000 homes, and ensuring that more Peruvians have access to safe, affordable, and good-quality homes.

Likewise, it invited the representatives of 20 companies in this sector to invest in housing projects that will be developed on urban land of more than 110 hectares, located in the departments of Arequipa, Lambayeque, Piura, Moquegua and Lima.

“I invite you to invest in and for Peru. They have our commitment that agreements and contracts will be respected and fair, transparent and corruption-free processes will be carried out. We want to strengthen and deepen our alliance with the private sector. We are convinced that, working together, we will be able to close the social gaps that afflict the country,” said the head of the housing sector.

Social interest housing: Where in the country will they be located?

The Ministry of Housing has three projects in competition, two of which are located in Moquegua and another in Villa El Salvador, Lima, places where 700 social housing will be built on land belonging to the MVCS and the Provincial Municipality of Ilo.

In addition, there are 13 projects to be carried out soon on land belonging to the National Superintendency of State Assets (SBN) and the Olmos Tinajones Special Project for March and June of next year. 10 of them will be in Arequipa (4 in the Selva Alegre district, 5 in Cerro Colorado and 1 in Yura); 1, in Lima (Santa Maria); 1, in Piura (Talara) and 1, in Lambayeque (Olmos), in which it is planned to build more than 4,000 homes.

Finally, there are five “active projects” presented by the Ministry of Housing, of which 2 are located in the district of Salaverry, Trujillo; 2, in the district of 26 de Octubre, Piura, and 1, in the hills of Ancón, Lima. These will be developed on land of more than a thousand hectares belonging to the Chavimochic Special Project, the Chira Piura Special Project and the SBN, thus promoting more than 58,200 homes in favor of 232,000 people.
