Labor market trends that Peruvian companies seek to adopt

With the passage of time, the world of work is transforming and the fundamentals with which we operated are evolving. The business model is increasingly challenged, an aspect that came to light even more with the pandemic. Deloitte consulted with more than 10,000 business and human resources leaders from various industries in 105 countries. Here, we present to you which are the trends that are being most valued in Peru, although their application is still in its infancy.

Companies are navigating a new landscape as they lose the traditional boundaries that kept things packed and tidy, gaining the ability to experiment, innovate, and define new foundations.

Similarly, new technologies are reshaping the boundaries of how human, team, and organizational performance is defined and improved. At the same time, the location and method of work become secondary to the needs of the collaborators.

Enhance human impact on technology

New technologies continue to be incorporated into the work environment and are not limited to increasing people’s productivity, but rather help them improve their personal skills and team performance.

“This explains why 98% of the leaders surveyed in Peru believe that using technology to improve work results and team performance is important to the success of their organization. It should be noted that only 21% affirm that they are prepared to work on this issue”says Giovanni Sissa, Human Capital Consulting partner at Deloitte Peru.

Redefinition of the job

“Traditionally, the job position was the determining structure to organize all aspects of it, in which tasks were grouped and collaborators were categorized into delimited functions and responsibilities, but that approach loses its meaning in today’s world. Instead, many companies are adopting a perspective based on the competencies and skills of their workers as the basis for making workforce decisions”adds Sissa.

In this sense, the report reveals that 97% of those consulted in Peru agree that it is important to avoid focusing on formal definitions of jobs for the success of the organization.

When freed from them, workers have the opportunity to make better use of their skills, experiences and interests, enabling them to promote business and employment outcomes. Furthermore, on this issue, only 22% stated that they had the capabilities to improve on this front.

Raise focus on human risk

Organizations must expand their view of human risk beyond compliance and reporting, in order to consider a broad set of factors that significantly affect them. The key is to fully understand these risks and the ultimate responsibility must rest with management.

In this context, it is essential to have a framework to monitor them, create a flexible structure to respond to risks through a broader and more timely perspective, and install responsibility at the management level so that it extends throughout the organization. This trend was highlighted by 97% of those surveyed and 26% expressed that they would make progress in this regard.

Promote the involvement of collaborators

“Leaders must harness the passion and energy of the work team to create mutual benefits for all. It is also important to have flexible objectives and make decisions that support your relationship aspirations between employees and the organization. This aspect obtained a score of 96%, while only 15% admit to being ready to take this step”, adds Sissa.
