Companies around the world have been evaluating new working methods and ways to adapt to changes in business, innovation and organizational culture. Thus, the 4 Day Week Global organization is conducting multiple investigations and experiments in different regions of the world, demonstrating that working fewer days a week does not affect the productivity of companies, but that 78% of workers are happier and less stressed.
In Peru, according to article 25 of the country’s Constitution, the ordinary working day is 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week. However, there are companies that have been implementing the labor policy for only 4 days as a pilot test and have obtained favorable results. In addition, other companies offer the option of summer hours, which allows workers to have the Friday afternoon off. Another advance is the bill that seeks to include snacks within working hours, which also reduces work time.
It should be noted that 70% of the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) have established a limit of 40 hours per week or less.
“The benefits of reducing the work week should be evaluated by putting it into practice, as it can provide valuable information for companies and organizations around the world. With project leaders at the helm, companies can seize the opportunity to revolutionize the harmony between work and personal life, witnessing a paradigm shift in performance, income and overall business success,” says Ricardo Triana, executive director of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Latin America.
Project managers dealing with organizational changes
Triana also stresses the importance of having project professionals certified in the management of organizational transformation projects, especially in a context of rapid changes in business and culture. Thus, project management professionals (PMPs) play a crucial role in ensuring a successful implementation of the benefits of a reduced work week. Acting as risk managers and adaptability experts, they proactively identify challenges and develop contingency plans to minimize disruption and maximize productivity.
In a shorter work week and with new hybrid work models, adaptability is critical. PMPs can support teams with methodologies and resources that enable employees to quickly respond to challenges, prioritize tasks, and achieve efficient results, even in a tight time frame.
