Dollar trend: is it time to buy the currency given the drop in its price?

The dollar has been showing a decline in the last week. the past has arrived Wednesday to its lowest level in two years and eight months: S/3.5820, according to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

This trend is mainly due to the results of the United States economy, which did not meet the expectations of economic agents and create speculation about a weakening in the North American country.

Faced with this panorama, many citizens wonder if it is convenient to acquire dollars taking advantage of this drop.

Is it an opportune moment to buy dollars?

For the economist Omar Azañedo, it is a good opportunity to acquire, especially those businessmen who import products for the Christmas season.

“It is a good time for acquisition for importing companies, for those who have obligations in dollars, many times the business sector buys inputs and gets into debt in bills,” he told La República.

Along these lines, the specialist reiterated that the drop in the currency is also convenient for investing, since most investments are made in dollars, whether you want to buy a property or consider investing in the financial world.

“There are high interest rates and anyone looking for a return will be higher than previous years, there are funds that offer you rates of 7% to 8%. It is a time to look for better returns by putting your money in a financial instrument or business”, added.

However, Javier Zúñiga Quevedo, general manager of the Financial Business Advisory, warned that it is not convenient for all citizens to acquire the green ticket.

“It is fluctuating. It is valid to buy dollars to go on a trip, pay the tuition of the foreigner’s child, among others. But those who are not in that position and buy cheap dollars, if it continues to drop, you may lose the possibility of going out to sell them and recover your spending ”, accurate.
