Sunat workers comply with a sit-in at the national level in demand for labor improvements

The workers of the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) comply with a preventive sit-in at the national level demanding compliance with a 2020 court order and better working conditions.

The president of the Federation of Customs and Tax Workers of Peru, Abilio Minayainformed that there are three points on the agenda.

The first of them contemplates compliance with a court order from 2020, through which Sunat workers were to receive a bonus due to the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. The employers did not recognize the bonus and the case was even prosecuted. Despite winning in court, Sunat workers still do not receive this amount.

A second point corresponds to the improvements in working conditions, which specifically involve the workers affected by the CAS regime.

“We denounce discriminatory treatment against CAS colleagues, even though we do the same work, they do not have the same working conditions as 728 workers,” said Minaya.

Finally, the Sunat workers’ union demands a new career law that favors meritocratic promotion within the institution, since they denounce that all promotions up to now have been carried out at discretion.

The sit-in is carried out solely in a preventive manner and in Lima it is carried out at the headquarters on Avenida Garcilaso, Miraflores, Chucuito, Arriola, AƩrea, and in the provinces at main service centers. They do not rule out that a strike could be carried out later.

“Management positions are chosen by hand, there have been no internal contests for Mayors or chiefs for 10 years, only for Supervisors, which is the lowest level of management positions. We demand meritocracy and a work career,” he sent to this medium.
