In this way, Petroecuador determined the approximate price at which gas stations that are members of this franchise will sell this fuel, the price of which is free, from tomorrow.

The new price represents a significant drop of 15 cents compared to the one registered last June and which is from $3.92 per gallon. It is the fourth month in a row that super gasoline prices have fallen, which last year saw record prices above $5 per gallon. On the other hand, this year, in the period from February 12 to March 11, that fuel cost $4.05, and the following period would increase in price by two cents to $4.07. However, from the period March-April until now, the price of fuel has recorded a constant decline. So:

According to data, the drop in the price of this gasoline in recent months has led to higher consumption of this fuel, which according to data from the Chamber of Petroleum Products Distributors (Camddepe) currently occupies 2.7 percent of motor fuels. market and 4.8% of the gasoline market alone.

Oswaldo Erazo, Executive Secretary of Camddepe, he explained that the consumption of super gasoline in April fell to 88,773 barrels. But this consumption has been increasing in recent months: consumption recovered in May, reaching 123,343 barrels. For Erazo, this new price reduction in July will certainly affect the increase in the consumption of this fuel, which is more environmentally friendly and does not cost the state treasury because it is not subsidized.

In any case, Erazo assures that the recovery of the super market is still far away if we consider that when the price liberalization began, the market share of this fuel was at least 8 percent.

In the meantime, about the price proposal for this period from July 12 to August 11, Petroecuador stated that the aforementioned calculation was made based on the prices of oil and its derivatives on the international market, aspects that are external and do not directly depend on the country or public enterprise.

Petroecuador also established a proposal for the price of other released gasoline. So 89-octane ecoplús will be $2.97 per gallon. This gasoline is part of a pilot plan that has not yet taken off or gained a following.

Meanwhile, Petroecuador stressed that the price of gasoline is currently frozen extra and ecopaís at $2.40 per gallon, as well as diesel at $1.75, in accordance with the Regulation for the regulation of the prices of petroleum products.
