A new holiday. This Saturday, July 8, Law No. 31822 was published in the official newspaper El Peruano, which makes Peruvian Air Force Day official and National holiday on July 23 of each year, in commemoration of the heroic sacrifice of Captain FAP José Abelardo Quiñones Gonzales.

In addition to the new holiday, the provision establishes that the Las Palmas air base will be renamed the Las Palmas Capitán FAP José Abelardo Quiñones Gonzales air base.

Holiday July 23: since when will it be in force?

The labor lawyer Germán Lora specifies that Law No. 31822, which establishes the new national holiday in Peru, will come into force as of this Sunday, July 9.

With this, workers who formally work this July 23, 2023 will be able to enjoy a new national holiday. It should be noted that, with the day of José Abelardo Quiñones, 16 non-working holidays per year are reached in Peru.

Labor lawyer Germán Lora recalls that the new national holiday of July 23, commemorating FAP captain José Abelardo Quiñones, It will fall on Sunday this year 2023.

The specialist points out that for the purposes of the vast majority of Peruvians who work from Monday to Friday, the double payment will not be applied. However, it will be considered for those who work that Sunday.

“This new national holiday falls on a Sunday, with which the economic effects will not be as relevant, since it will coincide with the mandatory rest day for the majority of Peruvians. This situation will change from 2024, as it will fall on Tuesday,” he says.

In this sense, Lora explains that if you will work this Sunday, July 23, you will be paid 100% of the salary for that day, plus a 100% fee, that is, double.
