Inhalation of exhaust gases in a traffic jam by a driver can lead to oncology, diseases of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, as well as skin problems. Anastasia Kosyakova, an oncologist, told Gazeta.Ru about this. In her opinion, the risks increase significantly when the car windows are open.

The doctor noted that people get the most harm from exhaust gases in traffic jams. This situation is aggravated by the open windows of a car, since people, along with oxygen, inhale carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, aldehydes, sulfur dioxide, soot, and benzopyrene.

These substances, accumulating in the body, can provoke serious diseases. The incidence of cancer in humans is on the rise. There are risks of developing lung cancer, warned Kosyakova.

In addition, the doctor noted, inhalation of exhaust gases can also lead to problems with the cardiovascular system and cause shortness of breath, dizziness, angina pectoris, as well as provoke the development of myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis and thrombosis.

Air conditioning helps to reduce the harmful effects of exhaust on the driver’s body. You also need to diversify the menu with antioxidants, which are found in berries, fruits, vegetables, green tea. You should drink more water, as it promotes detoxification, the doctor noted.
