They publish a law that promotes the use of artificial intelligence in favor of the economic and social development of the country

He Executive power published this Wednesday, July 5, Law 31814, which promotes the use of artificial intelligence in favor of the economic and social development of the country.

This norm, promulgated in the Official Gazette El Peruano, was approved in June in the Congress of the Republic and aims to promote the use of AI with a view to the national process of digital transformation in a safe environment, with an ethical, sustainable, transparent and responsible use. Furthermore, this transformation process has the human person as its center.

This law establishes principles for its development, which include supervised security, promotion of plurality of participants in the debate for the regulation of its use, Internet governance, digital society; as well as ethical development and no violation of privacy.

Previously, it was declared in the national interest to promote the development and use of AI to improve public services in education, health, justice, citizen security, economyinclusion, among others.

On the other hand, it is indicated that, in the event of the identification of serious threats or violation of national cybersecurity, the Intelligence Commission of the Congress of the Republic should be informed immediately. The Executive will have a period of 90 business days to approve the regulations of this law.

Principles for the development and use of artificial intelligence:

• Risk-based security standards: A risk-based approach to the use and development of artificial intelligence is promoted.
• Multi-stakeholder approach: the participation of people and companies is promoted in the debate for the development of regulatory policies on the use of AI.
• Internet governance: the development and application of principles, norms, decision-making procedures and programs that determine the evolution and use of the Internet by the State, companies and society is promoted.
• digital society: The knowledge obtained through the access, use and development of digital technologies is valued, and security, trust, the digital economy, digital connectivity, talent, innovation, education and digital identity are promoted.
• Ethical development for responsible artificial intelligence: It is considered that ethics is the fundamental basis for identifying the framework of responsibilities in the use of this type of systems that make up industry 4.0.
• Artificial Intelligence Privacy: AI must not infringe on people’s privacy. You must act safely to achieve a positive and well-being impact on citizens.

Generative artificial intelligence in the work environment

According to a Salesforce study, 73% of workers believe that the artificial intelligence Generative introduces new security risks, although most use or plan to use the technology. Despite these concerns, the research reveals that few know how to protect their companies from such risks.

The results show that 61% of employees use or plan to use generative AI at work, and that almost 60% of those planning to use this technology you don’t know how to do it using reliable data sources or guaranteeing the security of confidential data.

It also points out that, as the use of generative AI increases, trust and security issues arise. Given this, workers run the risk of inaccuracies, biases and security problems.
