Oil production in May fell 8.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, and 2.2% compared to what was registered in April of this year, weighed down, mainly, by the low production that comes from lots 67 (perenco), X (CNPC) and XIII (Olimpic).
In the fifth month, the accumulated oil production in our country totaled 1,290,907 barrels, barely 13,635 more than in April. In it case of Lot 67controlled by the Franco-British oil company Perenco SA, production fell completely compared to 2022 because the field is paralyzed in the midst of a controversy that seeks to define the presence of uncontacted groups in its area of influence, and that could define its end as an operation.
Lot X marks more of a trend. Since the beginning of 2023, the volumes of oil paintings delivered by China CNPC they have progressively fallen from 10,928 bpd in January to 9,338 bpd in the month of study (11,351 in May 2022).
Precisely, the president of Perupetro, Isabel Tafur Marín, acknowledged in a June interview with La República that the lots whose contracts are about to expire tend to go down its level of production.
A similar setback compared to May of the previous year is observed in blocks VI/VII (Sapet) and Z-2B (Savia) of talaraan area in which the Government has defined a participation in upstream activities for Petroperú.
