The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, through the program own roof, gives all citizens of Peru the opportunity to acquire the Housing Family Bonus (BFH) of up to more than S/43,000 for the purchase, construction or improvement of a house. The main requirement is to be Peruvian. This subsidy is given by the State to families for free as a reward for their saving effort and, most importantly, it is not returned.
What is the Family Housing Bonus (BFH)?
It is a free subsidy or bonus that the State grants to families with fewer resources so that they can buy, build or improve a property. It should be noted that the acquisition of new houses only applies to projects registered with the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation and the Mivivienda Fund. According to the Mivivienda website, there are three modalities and, below, we will explain each one.
- Buy a home: the bonus is S/43,312.50
- Build a house: the bonus can be S/29,700
- Improve a home: the bonus is S/11,385
These new figures were approved by ministerial resolution to be valid until December 31, 2023.

What are the requirements to obtain the Family Housing Bonus (BFH)?
As mentioned, the BFH is a grant, not a mortgage loan, so it must not be repaid. In this sense, the main requirement is to be Peruvian, then four other requirements must be met and they are the following:
- The monthly family income must not exceed the value of S/3,141 to buy and S/2,266 to build or improve the house.
- Not having received any support from the State before.
- Having a family burden (grandparents, parents, children, etc.).
- Not have any property in your name.
