Who receives the Christmas bonus?

The December bonus is intended for public and private sector workers who are under the labor regime of private activity and who have a current contract, as well as who have worked at least one month in the July-December semester. How much is my bonus amount?

The regulations establish that the amount of this labor benefit it is equivalent to the last basic remuneration that the worker received, without making the discounts that correspond to the AFP or ONP, or insurance. In some cases, a family allowance is added when you have minor children or who are in higher education and are dependent on the parents.

In the case of public sector workers, the Government establishes by Supreme Decree the regulatory provisions for the granting of the Christmas bonus for National Holidays and Christmas. In July 2021 the amount was S / 300.

How to calculate the payment?

The amount of the bonus depends on the time a worker has been working in the company. The way to perform the calculation is as follows: Salary + family allowance + bonus of 9% or 6.75% of your salary, depending on the insurer where you are affiliated.

No discounts are made for days not worked on vacations, paid leave or medical breaks.

Until when do companies have to pay the bonus?

The law establishes that employers must pay the amount corresponding to the bonus during the first fortnight of July or December. Otherwise, workers can report the company to the National Superintendency of Labor Inspection (Sunafil).
