An act of protocol at the Tocumen Airport in Panama, this Tuesday, June 27, the Copa operation between Panama City and Manta began.

The Minister of Transport and Public Works, César Rohon, traveled to that country to participate in the inauguration of that first flight.

It is a new route that Copa opens in Manta and at the same time the first international route that the port city of Manabí has.

“Manta reconnects with the world directly through Panama. As of today, the new line has three direct weekly frequencies that operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays,” said Minister Rohon.

The crew of this flight displayed the flags of Ecuador and Panama, as a symbolic act of unification.

The Copa Boeing 737 departed Panama City this afternoon and is scheduled to arrive at Eloy Alfaro de Manabí Airport at 5:17 p.m.

The first international flight of Copa Airlines Manta is already 80% sold

The Manta mayor’s office indicated that for these operations it invested in the return of a fire truck to fight fires at the airport.

A security contingent has been organized for this Tuesday, which includes more than 25 police officers, including elite groups, anti-narcotics and preventive services. Traffic control agents and internal airport security have been added.

The Minister of Transport, César Rohon, participated in the official opening of the flight.

Manta thus becomes the third city in the country to have international flights, along with Quito and Guayaquil.

“From this port, a big step has been taken for Manabí because this opening is expected to generate local economic reactivation in the continental and island territory,” said the municipality of Mantense.

Added to this are 27 weekly frequencies approved for daily Quito-Manta trips operated by Avianca and Latam from 2022 with up to 92% and 78% occupancy respectively.
