In the framework of Perumin 35Daniel Lozada Herrera, president of the Agricultural Society of Arequipa – SADA, proposed that 30% of the mining canon be used in agricultural development, mainly in irrigation infrastructure, new technologies, training, capture of markets and roads and accesses. To promote this idea, he stated that they will make a legislative proposal that will be submitted to Congress at the end of October.
In the case of Arequipa, according to Lozada, the proposal responds to the need for resources to expand the region’s agricultural frontier. If materialized, it would be more than 300,000 new hectares enabled, which will allow the generation of more than half a million jobs, of these 200,000 would be direct jobs and 300,000 indirect.
This idea is added to the institutional proposal to promote a new vision in which the efforts of the mining and agricultural sector, which will support the development of the territories.
