DOCa Rioja appeals to the TSJPV the decision of the Basque Government to register Viñedos de Álava

The Regulatory Council of the Qualified Denomination of Origin (DOCa) Rioja has lodged an appeal with the Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country (TSJPV) against the favorable decision of the Basque Government to register and protect the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) ‘Viñedos de Álava-Arabako Mahastiak’.

Sources of the Regulatory Council have explained this Monday that on the 24th the content of the contentious administrative appeal was formulated and sent to the TSJPV, after having agreed it in the plenary session held on September 10, to whose agreement they have been referred.

In that plenary session of the DOCa Rioja Regulatory Council, to which the Riojan, Basque and Navarrese communities belong, it was decided, with 98% support, to resort to contentious proceedings to face the decision of the Basque Government to promote the dossier of creation of the PDO ‘Vineyards of Álava‘.
