“We have a significant increase in coastal agro-exports. Our products are increasingly positioning themselves in the main international markets, which greatly contributes to our country remaining among the main suppliers of fruit in the world, being the world’s leading exporters of grapes and blueberries,” said the minister. .
According to the last Monthly Report of Regional Trade, the coastal grape exports reached US$682 million (+22.3%) at the end of the first four months of the year. Grapes are the main agro-export product of Ica (42.8% of agro-exports) and Piura (45.7%), two of the main agro-export regions of the country.
Also, sales of blueberries from the coast accumulated US$ 154 million between January and April, a value 15.8% higher than that registered in the same period of the previous year. Lambayeque is the region that has presented the most outstanding growth in blueberry exports (+152.4%), with US$ 41 million.
The northern regions have also stood out for their exports of avocado. Coastal exports of this fruit totaled US$259 million (+40.3%) in the aforementioned period, highlighting the higher sales of Lambayeque, which amounted to US$61 million (+38.5%); and La Libertad, which totaled US$25 million (+56.1%).
At the national level exports of blueberries, grapes and avocados have grown 18.2%, 22.4% and 42.3% respectively. The first added US$172 million between January and April; the second; $696 million; and the third, US$282 million.
