Formulated for facilitate the natural feeding of shrimp larvae, Elevia is a new generation solution which goes beyond conventional feeding methods and traditional aquafeed ingredients, setting a new standard for laboratory performance.

Installation of new sustainable raw materials, such as Long-chain omega-3 essential fatty acids, algae-derived DHA and hydrolysed marine proteins enable larvae to develop into strong, healthy post-larvae (PL) with greater ability to resist and develop into pre-hatch pups shrimp.

Marita Monserrate, technical-commercial manager of Skretting Ecuador, explains that Elevia reduces production cycles in laboratories, providing the necessary energy reserve to improve strength during transport to the farm and during acclimatization. In addition, it ensures better performance in the pre-hatch period, reducing post-larval costs and promoting higher survival and growth throughout the production cycle.

We are very excited about introducing Elevia to shrimp hatcheries, especially in Ecuador as our launch country. After an extensive development period that spanned the COVID outbreak and through extensive customer validation, we are confident that Skretting is once again paving the way for a new generation of shrimp larval production, enabling better PL quality.

How does it affect larvae?

Elevia increases the larvae’s ability to cope with all challenges by supplying them with nutrients that improve their immune system and overall endurance. This allows the larvae to cope more effectively with the stress caused by changes in the environment. As a result, shrimp production becomes more reliable and successful, reducing the risks associated with variations in water conditions and other factors.

Through the advanced formulation and physical properties of Elevia, the need to use multiple diets and clumping are significantly reduced, resulting in simplified food management and operations. Another key feature that helps optimize performance is the ability of the diet to maintain water stability. Thanks to the unique composition and encapsulation of omega-3 fatty acids, the leaching of lipids into the production system is prevented, thus ensuring cleaner water quality.

Consequently, food particles remain intact and stable for longer periods, reducing the need for frequent replacement. This not only promotes optimal water conditions, but also facilitates basic system maintenance, while reducing the strain on biological and mechanical filters.

Production

Elevia is manufactured in Skretting’s state-of-the-art LifeStart plant in France. It is currently available in Ecuador and other markets to come.
