Perupetro: collection in the hydrocarbons sector reached US$564 million until May 2023

Amount corresponds to royalties and net sales generated by the production of gas, natural gas liquids and oil in the country. From 1993 to date, income from hydrocarbon production amounted to US$24.390 million.

Perupetro reported that the income to the Peruvian State for the production of hydrocarbons (gas and oil) during the period January-May 2023, amounted to US$564 million, an amount that reflects the importance of the sector for the country’s economy.

Of the total, US$553 million corresponded to the payment of royalties from the Licensing Agreements for the production of hydrocarbons.

In the breakdown, US$287 million corresponded to the production of natural gas, US$180 million to the production of natural gas liquids, and US$86 million to oil production in the country.

The royalty is the economic consideration established by law, through which companies are obliged to pay the State for the right to exploit hydrocarbon resources (oil and gas) in the country. It is calculated based on the value of production based on the royalty percentage established for each contract.

For its part, income from the sale of hydrocarbons from Service Contracts amounted to US$11 million in the period January – May of this year.

In 2022, income to the Peruvian State from the production of hydrocarbons amounted to US$1,847 million and from 1993 to date, said income totals US$24,390 million.
