Kuleba: Ukraine will receive Abrams tanks for the next counteroffensive

Kyiv could get the promised Abrams tanks from Washington for its next counteroffensive, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

According to TASS, in an interview shown by Ukrainian TV channels, Kuleba stressed that the current counter-offensive of the country’s armed forces should not be treated as the last. According to him, “there will be as many counteroffensives in Ukraine as needed.”

The minister noted that Washington is already supplying Bradley armored vehicles to Kyiv, and the issue of making a decision on the supply of Abrams tanks “is in the process.” “Therefore, we are working for now, but we keep in mind that in the same way we will need tanks, armored personnel carriers and other equipment for possible future offensives,” Kuleba said, adding that, in his opinion, it is necessary to think in “two or three steps forward”.

At the same time, answering the question of whether Abrams tanks could be delivered to Ukraine for use in the current offensive, the minister replied: “There is hope.”

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also acknowledged that some Western countries are putting pressure on Kyiv, expecting the greatest results in the counteroffensive now, as their position regarding support may change in the future. Nevertheless, according to him, “there is no signal from any country that if, relatively speaking, Kyiv does not achieve decisive success by autumn, then everything will be over.”

Speaking about negotiations with Russia in the event that Western pressure is exerted on Kiev, Kuleba once again stressed that they are possible only if the Russian Federation withdraws its troops from the territories that the Ukrainian authorities consider their own. According to him, Western partners treat this position “with understanding.”
