Employment: which are the regions with the highest and lowest average income in the country, according to INEI?

The average monthly income from work in the Peru stood at S/1,524, according to the Permanent Survey of Employment National (EPEN) of 2022 presented by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). In the case of men, they earned an average of S/1,726.6, while women earned S/1,246.9.

The regions whose workers received incomes above the national average were Arequipa (S/1,923), Metropolitan Lima- Callao (S/1,885), Mother of God (S/1,821), Ica (S/1,801) and moquegua (S/1,780).

Departments with income less than the minimum wage

From the other shore, regions like Puno, Huancavelica and Cajamarca reported the lowest income when registering S/930, S/950 and S/988 respectively, amounts less than the minimum wage in Peru set at S/1,025.

What is an average monthly income from work?

According to the INEI, it is the total of remunerations who perceive the workers dependent and independent in their main or secondary activity. This income includes extraordinary amounts such as gratuity of Christmas and National Holidays, bonus for your last vacation, school bonus, Compensation for Time of Service (CTS), utilitiesamong others.

In 2021 the average monthly income per person in the country was S/98912.9% more than in 2020.
