Petroperú objects to the little presence that Perupetro intends to give it in batches

On November 23, officials from Petroperú and Perupetro met to, among others, discuss the participation of the state oil company in future tenders to explore and exploit oil lots whose contracts are about to expire.

Despite the fact that there is an express mandate from the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, for Petroperú to participate in all links of the hydrocarbon chain, Perupetro’s proposal involves giving it a minority stake in these fields, as La República learned .

In this sense, the agency’s position has generated deep unease in Petroperú, which has been expressed in a letter addressed to Seferino Yesquén, president of Perupetro.

In the letter, Petroperú’s management warns that they want to limit them to a participation no greater than 30% in the operations, mainly located in Talara; However, the state company considers that it has sufficient technical and financial capacity to fulfill all the commitments it assumes as a result of the signing of future license contracts.

Likewise, Petroperú emphasizes that as part of its vertical integration, the company can provide more information that supports its technical-financial capacity to assume commitments to participate in license contracts, including up to 100%.
