Ecuador’s yellow pitahaya continues to be of interest to international markets, and the fruit that first arrived in China on April 10 is now seducing the Peruvian market.
This week, a business conference was held in Lima (Peru) organized by the Embassy of Ecuador in that country together with the vice president of the Ministry of Export and Investment Promotion, with the aim of creating business opportunities for producers of this fruit.
The first shipment of pitahaya will leave Quito for the Chinese market this Monday, April 10
This event brought together ten Peruvian companies interested in Ecuadorian fruit, including Cencosud, Danper and supermarket chains who met with representatives of nine national companies.

At the moment, the main market for Ecuadorian pitahaya is the United States. 83% of the income generated in 2022 was from exports to that country, and in the same year, Ecuador exported more than 23,000 tons of fruit, which represented an income of more than 99 million dollars.
The fruit is produced mainly in the provinces of: Morona Santiago, Pichincha, Manabí and Guayas, but it is also found in Bolívar, Cañar, El Oro, Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Loja, Los Ríos, Napa, Orellana, Pastaza, Santa Elena, Santa Nedjelja Tsáchila, Sucumbios and Zamora Chinchipe.
